Jangipur town is situated in the both sides of river Bhagirathi. The east bank of river Bhagirathi is older than the west bank. The name of this town was Jangipur after Mughal Emperor Jahangir.

BRINDABAN - BEHARI TEMPLE :
Year of Erection: It is erected in 1763 A.D. by Diwan Kirteechandra. Description: It is a large temple of Brindaban- Behari (Lord Srikrishna and Radha).

JUMMA MOSQUE :
Year of Erection:
It is ercted in 1664 A.D. by Sayad Kashim. Location: At Balighata of north Raghunathganj (West bank of river Bhagirathi). Description: It is the oldest mosque of Mughal- architecture in the district. This three domed mosque is 14 metre, 7.5 metre and 10 metre in length, breadth and height respectively.
